Two Year 12 students from Bank View School in Liverpool have had their confidence and social skills boosted by taking part in a supported internship scheme with us.

Bank View is a special educational needs school for students with complex learning difficulties, and twin brothers Anthony and Andrew Owen are the latest students to benefit from internship with Livv.

A previous Bank View School student who completed a placement with us has since gone on to become an apprentice at the Knowsley-based housing association.

Anthony had already completed a work experience placement with Livv while he was in Year 11, so had a supported internship lined up, but this time we were also able to take on his brother Andrew at the last minute when his planned internship at a car garage fell through due to COVID-19.

I can’t thank Livv Housing Group enough for what they’ve done for us. They’ve really gone above and beyond by giving the boys the opportunities they have done. They both go to Livv four days a week, going out and carrying out the tasks with the team while continuing their studies here once a week. They’ve come on massively because of their time at Livv, their maturity has gone through the roof, and it’s helped their concentration levels, their social interaction, and communication. It’s like they’re different lads already, so I can only see it getting better.

Gareth Davey, Assistant Head at Bank View High School

We’re delighted to have Anthony and Andrew with us this year, they’ve done great work already and have really come on in terms of confidence, which is lovely to see. The supported internship scheme is hugely important for Livv Housing Group as part of our work to deliver a positive impact in the communities we work in. Working with Bank View School has been beneficial for ourselves as well as the students and we’ve shown our commitment to the scheme by ensuring that it can continue in a COVID-secure manner for this academic year. I look forward to seeing how far Anthony and Andrew come in the rest of their time with us as we help them get ready for the world of work.
