We’re trying to help ease lockdown blues by providing all extra care housing residents with ‘Beat the Boredom Bundles’.

Over 800 residents in Livv’s extra care schemes received the physically and mentally stimulating activity packs ahead of today, 18 January – which has become known as Blue Monday.

Blue Monday, which falls on the third Monday in January every year, is labelled as the most depressing day of the year – when the combination of bad weather, financial challenges, low motivation, and failing commitment to New Year’s resolutions are believed to affect people the most.

It is thought that the third national lockdown coinciding with Blue Monday will make the day even tougher than most years, which is why, we hope our customers will welcome the distraction provided by the activity packs.

The chair exercise booklets have been designed to keep residents active during a time when their ability to get out has been limited due to COVID-19 restrictions, while the Beat the Boredom Bundles contain other activities such as jigsaws, crossword puzzles, and quizzes to engage their minds.

We’ve also introduced timed access to on-site libraries to ensure social distancing measures can stay in place while enabling residents to visit them.

We’re very aware of the potential impact of these national lockdown measures on our customers in our extra care facilities, especially at a time of year, where the cold weather and post-Christmas blues can affect all of us. The Beat the Boredom Bundles and exercise booklets will help them to stay active in their homes, physically and mentally.

We are introducing a wide range of measures, all with the aim of ensuring we do everything we can to support our residents. At Livv Housing Group, we are always committed to looking after our customers and helping them to live happy, healthy and independent lives – but even more so during these unprecedented times.
