It’s been a while since we last updated you on our plans for Gaywood Green. While our planning application remains under consideration, we’ve continued to prepare for the delivery of much-needed affordable homes for the local community.
Planning application update
Following our newsletter update in January, our planning application remains under consideration by Knowsley Council.
We had originally hoped to receive a decision on our proposals in April. However, before completing their review, the Planning Team has requested an extension to the determination period while they wait for final comments from consultees to be submitted.
While this is taking longer than we had hoped, we continue to work closely with the Planning Team to provide any further information they require to help progress the application. We’re hopeful that a decision will be made by the end of August and will provide a further update as soon as we receive confirmation of a decision date.
Getting ready for construction
While the planning application is being considered, we’ve continued preparing for the delivery of the scheme.
Over recent months, we’ve carried out a contractor selection process, reviewed construction costs and developed the detailed plans needed to bring the development forward.
Several contractors have submitted proposals to build the development, along with commitments to create jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities for local people during the construction phase. We are now in the final stages of selecting our preferred contractor.
What’s next?
We’re continuing to work closely with Knowsley Council and hope to receive a planning decision as soon as possible.
Once a contractor has been appointed and planning approval has been secured, we’ll arrange a ‘Meet the Contractor’ drop-in event. This will be an opportunity to meet the construction team, learn more about how the build will be managed, discuss how disruption will be minimised and find out about employment and training opportunities linked to the project.
Subject to planning approval, we hope to start work on site later this year or, at the latest, early next year. We’ll continue to keep local residents updated and will share further information as soon as we have confirmation of the next steps for Gaywood Green.
