Committed to creating opportunities for the young people of Knowsley, we’ve recently welcomed three new pre-apprentices to the business.
Mia Harkins, Annie Harrison and Carmen Arnold, all from Kirkby, Merseyside, have joined our pre-apprenticeship programme, where they will work in IT, Assets and Responsive Repairs respectively.
Initially introduced in 2019, our pre-apprenticeship programme is now in its second iteration.
Bridging the gap between education and employment, it gives young people the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards fulfilling the entry requirements for a formal apprenticeship.
Mia, Annie and Carmen will complete 30 hours of paid work per week, alongside studying for their Functional Skills in Maths and English. They’ll also have access to personal mentoring from our learning and development team.
Jude Wilkinson, our Executive Director of Resources said: “I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to bring our pre-apprenticeship programme back this year. While our established apprenticeship programme gives young people the platform to kickstart their careers, we understand that some of our aspiring apprentices may require additional preparation before starting a full apprenticeship.
“Our programme offers a supportive environment for Mia, Annie and Carmen to build their skills, confidence and knowledge as well as become familiar with working life. We’ll work closely with them to make sure they stand in good stead to apply for our full-time apprenticeship vacancies later in the year.”
The pre-apprenticeship programme is part funded by Northwood Together, a community led project which gives local people a chance to make a difference in their neighbourhood.
“We’ve worked in partnership with Northwood Together since 2016 to create opportunities for the people of Northwood and the wider Kirkby area. Through the pre-apprenticeship programme, we’re able to realise our shared goal of helping our communities flourish, whilst at the same time supporting young talent to realise their aspirations and achieve their full potential.”
Our project exists to raise aspirations, create opportunities, and enrich the lives of those in our local area. I’m really proud of our partnership with Livv – we’ve made a real difference to real people over the years.
“The pre-apprenticeship programme is a fantastic opportunity for the young people from our area to gain the skills and qualifications they need to help them on their way to a future career. I’m sure their experience at Livv will prove invaluable. It’s vital that we have employers like Livv in our borough who do so much for their customers and communities, and we’re grateful for their continued support.
