Today marks Chinese New Year and 2021 is the year of the ox.

The ox is the second zodiac animal, people born in the following years were also born in the year of the ox:

  • 1961
  • 1973
  • 1985
  • 1997
  • 2009

Traditions

Traditionally celebrations usually include families gathering together for feasts, as well as swapping gifts and red envelopes with money in as a sign of good luck for the year ahead. There’s usually events and celebrations taking place throughout Liverpool as well in order to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Unfortunately, due the ongoing pandemic, these events are unable to take place this year. However, in an attempt to try and keep the festivities alive, our Independent Living Team have decorated our Independent Living facilities, Bluebell and Watchfactory and have been delivering fortune cookies to customers on both sites to wish them well and good fortune.
