Contents insurance
What’s contents insurance?
Contents insurance is an insurance policy you can take out to protect the personal belongings inside your home – essentially, any items you’d take with you if you were to move house. It covers the cost of repairing or replacing these items if they’re stolen, damaged or destroyed because of theft, fire, flood or accidents.
Why it’s important to insure your belongings…
As your landlord, we insure the building you live in, but we do not insure your personal belongings or the contents of your home. This means that in the event of an accident or incident, unless you have contents insurance, your items won’t be protected.
Remember, contents insurance is important and protects everything from furniture and electronics to clothing and sentimental items.
Accidents happen when we least expect them, which is why it’s important that you take steps to protect what matters most. We hope you never need to make a claim, but having contents insurance offers valuable peace of mind and can cover your personal items against:
- theft or loss
- fire damage
- flooding and water damage
- accidental damage
Don’t leave it too late – protect your belongings today!
Not having contents insurance means you’ll need to replace your belongings yourself if something goes wrong. A small monthly cost now could save you a lot later on.
What items should I insure?
Contents insurance can cover everything you own, but as a starting point, we suggest that you insure:
- laptops, tablets and PCs
- TVs and games consoles
- mobile phones, fitness watches and wearable technology
- jewellery, watches and sentimental items
- furniture, décor and home accessories
- any appliances you own
