We’ve opened our new show home at Berrywood, marking a key milestone in the Lickers Lane regeneration project in Whiston, Merseyside. With 26 high quality, affordable homes now available through Shared Ownership and Rent to Buy, more aspiring homeowners can take their first step onto the property ladder.

Located on Quistan Way, a newly built road off Berrywood Drive, the development offers a mix of beautifully designed two- and three- bedroom homes. Seven properties are available through Shared Ownership, while 19 are offered under the government’s Rent to Buy scheme.
The Rent to Buy scheme allows customers to rent their home at 80% of the market rate while saving for a deposit over a period of up to five years. Shared Ownership buyers can purchase an initial 10-75% share of a home, paying rent on the remainder, with the option to gradually increase their ownership to 100%.
Delivered by Tyson Construction and supported by Homes England and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s Brownfield Land Fund, these new homes are helping to meet the growing demand for quality, affordable housing in Knowsley. It follows the first phase, where we delivered 28 homes for affordable rent in 2020.

Yvonne Westhead-Fyles, our Director of Development, Growth & Sales commented: “After successfully delivering 28 homes for affordable rent in phase one, we’re proud to introduce home ownership opportunities to the area and give more people the opportunity to get on the property ladder. Our stunning new homes demonstrate how affordability and modern-day living can go hand in hand.
“This is our first scheme that we’ve delivered with the Brownfield Land Fund and it’s been a pleasure to work alongside the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and our project partners.
“This regeneration reflects our commitment to investing in people and place, providing opportunities for local people and transforming this area into a vibrant community where individuals and families can thrive. We can’t wait to see the new Berrywood community grow and flourish.”

Everyone in our region deserves the chance to live in a safe, secure and affordable home. Through our Brownfield Land Fund, we’re helping to unlock disused sites like this one in Whiston and turn them into thriving neighbourhoods.
“The completion of this next phase at Berrywood is another step forward in our mission to build a fairer, more inclusive Liverpool City Region – and I’m really pleased to see local families starting to benefit from the investment we’ve made.
We recently welcomed Homes England and Tyson Construction to celebrate the completion of the scheme and view the new show home, which is now open for viewings by appointment only.
As the Government’s housing and regeneration agency, increasing the supply of quality affordable homes remains one of our key objectives and we are committed to supporting Livv Housing Group to achieve their ambitions.
“This development is a prime example of how the agency works with partners through the Affordable Homes Programme to achieve our mission of building much needed new communities that people can be proud to call home.

Jeremy Whittle, Managing Director at Tyson Construction, concluded: “We’re proud to complete our third successful project in partnership with Livv. As part of our commitment to social value, we’ve prioritised hiring locally and supporting skills development, which included welcoming a young Livv customer to the site team at Berrywood.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to not only provide new homes that people can be proud to call home but also create a lasting impact in the communities we help build.”
