Monday 30 June – Sunday 6 July was Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week, and we celebrated this annual event by working with partners, customers and our communities to raise awareness of our latest campaign, Respect where you Livv.

ASB can negatively impact people and neighbourhoods, but Respect where you Livv was designed to empower people to report ASB and highlight how, together, we can tackle it and build safer, stronger communities.

The week was full of activities and events that saw our Community Safety Team get out and about in our communities, including attending:

Walkabout Wednesdays

Walkabout Wednesdays sees us working with partners such as Merseyside Police and Knowsley Council’s Safer Knowsley Partnership to bring support directly to the people who live in our homes and communities.

Helping us provide targeted support, information, and help to anyone who may have witnessed, been a victim of, or participated in ASB, Walkabout Wednesdays help us understand how we can best support our customers and communities and tackle ASB quickly and effectively.

This ASB Awareness Week, our Walkabout Wednesday took us to Huyton Village and we joined Emily Spurrel, the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner, to speak to people about their experiences of ASB.

Check out our video to learn how we’re working together to create safer communities and how partnerships like these are raising awareness of and preventing ASB.

Poetry Expo

We were also thrilled to sponsor the UK’s first-ever Poetry Expo and work with All Ears Poetry to educate and inspire students from local schools through poetry.

We need to fix this, it's not ok, too many children being killed before even going to school yet. Something needs to be done to helpe these accidents from happening. WE NEED YOUR HELP, MERSEYSIDE. PLEASE COME HELP US!A photograph of a handwritten poem, part one, which reads: Dear, Merseyside. How have you been? I know we haven't spoken in a while but I need to update you about life. Merseyside, children are in hospital with severe injuries. Merseyside, there is too much antisocial behaviour. Merseyside, there is too many incidents in this world. Our team were proud to be part of this vibrant and engaging event, which brought together schools from across the Liverpool City Region to take part in creative workshops, performances and meaningful conversations that reminded us of the power of language and self-expression.

An important part of the day was exploring how ASB impacts individuals and communities. We encouraged students to think about ways they can influence their friends and family to avoid taking part in ASB that could harm their neighbourhoods, like littering, vandalism, or misusing shared spaces.

Students then wrote and shared poems with us about what they think ASB is and it was incredibly powerful seeing what they wrote. Our very own Director of Communities, Sarah Smith, even wrote and shared her own poem! (click thumbnails to expand)

We understand how important people’s homes are to them and with the Expo’s theme being ‘home’ it was a great opportunity to ask people attending what ‘home’ means to them…

The Poetry Expo was an initiative we were proud to be part of and it was a fantastic way to get students thinking about how they can positively contribute to their community and neighbourhood. It was a day full of highlights for the team and showcased the power of people and collaboration…

We all have a part to play in tackling ASB and together, we can make a difference. Find out more about what ASB is, how you can report it and how we can lend a helping hand in tackling it by visiting: livvhousinggroup.com/help-support/anti-social-behaviour
